I was doing a research project and measuring a lot of match statistics with the e sports world cup thing, and AngryBird stood out as having the strangest stats compared to all the other players. He spends the least drive gauge per round, he hits his opponent with way more separate attacks than most matches that end in maybe 4 stray hits and 3 combos, and yeah, he just sits there with full bar and is just entirely confident he can play reactively to everything and only spend on hit or to overwhelm in the corner.

Ngl I fucking hate this game, feels like I need to be on a mix of Adderall and cocaine to understand the mechanics. Tried playing on Fightcade and everyone who plays this shit is a basement dwelling-lives-with-their-mom nerd who knows every optimal route against every matchup. Love that zoning is absolutely demolished by the dipshit parry system. I am not saying it doesn't take skill, but it takes away important aspects of what classic Street Fighter had. Every game I have played is just a cornucopia of rush mechanics and either being the guy punishing hesitation or being punished for it. I genuinely dislike this game but I can totally admit that it is for that very skilled contingency of player who can spend all day in their virgin gamer den learning how to punish off every little hit confirm. Also Guile is replaced by some long-haired hippie and I will not stand for such heresy.

I think the best counterplay approach against player with other worldly reaction are two things, which are gameplan and reads. Reading your opponent is the arch nemesis of reaction

It's not impossible to beat punk when there's a thing called mind games, momentum, him choking, him catching a bad day, him not practicing cuz he likes to make content and play ranked matches not even using his main meanwhile you're studying his tapes, and if you can adapt to his play style.

For anyone interested, this concept is called a framekill. Put yourself into a position where you're locked for a guaranteed number of frames and you have a better indication of when you need to act after you're no longer locked in. From what I know, the best framekills are when you can immediately press a move after the framekill and that gets you exactly what you need. otherwise, it just creates a more narrow window for you to recognize which, I'm sure, makes it easier. I think 15 frames is a lot easier to calculate than 30.
